Norton, Denise Marie of Chaska, MN passed away on December 4, 2019 at 60 years old due to complications from an 8 year fight with Neuro Endocrine Cancer. A Memorial Service will be held at Huber Funeral Home Chapel, Saturday, December 14 at 520 Second Street, Excelsior, MN. Visitation will be from 11AM 1PM, with a Memorial Service at 1PM. Following the service we will gather at a local Excelsior establishment to celebrate her life. Denise was born in Highland Park, Michigan on March 15, 1959 to James and Elizabeth Tilton. She attended Western Michigan University where she met her husband Steve with a marriage that has lasted over 38 years. Denise graduated from Loyola Law School in Chicago in 1985 and had a successful law practice in Illinois, Minnesota, Hawaii, Virginia, and back to Minnesota as careers moved the family around the country. While Denise's work was a lawyer, it was being a great Mom that she wanted to be most remembered for. In addition to being a Mom and lawyer she also loved teaching 1st year law students at Mitchell Hamline School of Law where she impacted a great number of future attorneys. Denise is preceded in death by her father James Tilton. Denise is survived by her children Brittany Norton of Plymouth, MN, Chris Norton and his wife Hayley of Denver, CO., and mother Elizabeth Jane Tilton (Ohio), and brothers and sisters Lynn Heir (Michigan), Sharon La Pierre (Ohio), Jim Tilton (Georgia), Ron Tilton (Maryland), Kathleen Van Orsdol (Michigan), Fred Tilton (Oregon). Her passion was family, teaching, travel, lake living, entertaining, and friends. The family wishes to extend its sincere thanks to Dr. Bible and his support staff at Mayo Clinic in Rochester for the care and support given our family through this long process.
