Barnes, Rebecca Altemus Born 9/27/1929 Passed peacefully in her sleep on 3/9/2020 at the age of 90 after a long and happy life. Becky was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She was vibrant and joyful; she loved people and animals. She was born in Philadelphia and spent wonderful summers in Wyoming. She was married to John Bender Barnes on 5/19/1951 and had five children. Her favorite destination was Goose Rocks Beach in Maine, where they vacationed for 45+ years. She will be missed dearly, by many. She is preceded in death by her husband John of 53 years, parents Archibald and Rebecca (Freeman) Altemus, brothers James Altemus (Dorothy), Edward Altemus (Cissy), and Daniel Altemus (Karlene). She is survived by her children David Barnes, Sarah Prochnow, Nancy Slyce (Steve), Becky Allen (John), and John Barnes (Reed). Her fourteen loving grandchildren Molly Kirkpatrick (Nate), Sarah Pollio (Dan), Ben Barnes, Rob Prochnow, Maggie Prochnow, Allison Slyce, Katherine Slyce, Justin Allen, Matt Allen (Melissa), Paige Allen, Charlie Allen, Jack Allen, Jake Barnes and Carter Barnes. And seven great grandchildren Wyatt, Jack, Aaden, Eli, Sophia, Hudson, and Charlotte. And by many nieces, nephews and friends. And Agnes, her sweet cat. Our deepest gratitude to Carrie Larson, the clinical administrator, and her staff at Beacon Hill for taking such great care of her.
